Digital Asset Forensics and Recovery Tools for Fighting Crypto-Enabled Crime
CAT Labs builds forensic and cybersecurity tools aimed at cryptocurrency-enabled crime, serving government agencies, law enforcement, asset recovery professionals such as law firms and private investigators, and digital asset businesses. The Miami-based startup was founded by Lilita Infante, a former US Department of Justice special agent who spent a decade at the DOJ and created the first federal task force focused on cryptocurrency, taking down illicit networks from dark web marketplaces to child exploitation rings.
The flagship product, Recovery CAT, is a digital asset recovery platform that finds, identifies, and helps seize cryptocurrency from digital evidence — phones, computers, servers, email, cloud accounts, and other search warrant returns — across multiple storage types. It is designed to integrate with existing forensic and analysis software rather than replace established workflows, targeting investigative bottlenecks the founding team observed firsthand inside government. A second product, Security CAT, is in development to protect digital asset businesses from hacks, scams, and fraud.
The company's differentiation rests on its DOJ pedigree: tooling shaped by investigators who ran federal crypto cases, applied to a cybersecurity forensics market the company sizes at over $30 billion globally. It launched publicly in 2023 with $4.3 million in funding from Castle Island Ventures, Brevan Howard Digital, CMT Digital, RW3 Ventures, and Newark Venture Partners, and operates two verticals — asset recovery for government clients and crypto-focused security for the private sector.
