Security, Encryption, and Secure File Transfer for IBM i Systems

Arpeggio Software builds security and connectivity products for IBM i, the platform still widely referred to by its earlier names System i, iSeries, and AS/400. The company is headquartered in Atlanta, with European operations in Barcelona, and its founders each bring more than twenty years in the IBM i market. It sells to large enterprises that continue to run core business applications on the platform, and describes its aim as filling the gap in simple tools for securing IBM i data and applications.

The catalogue is organised into three groups. Connect handles file transfer and messaging: SFTP client and server software, cloud integration with Azure, AWS, and Box, and SMS and email delivery from IBM i applications. Detect covers security monitoring, led by SIFT-IT, which detects security threats and events in real time and integrates with any third-party SIEM application. Protect covers ARP-AUTH multi-factor authentication and encryption using OpenPGP and AES.

SIFT-IT has published integrations with SIEM platforms including Juniper's JSA, so IBM i activity can be correlated alongside the rest of an estate rather than sitting isolated on a system most security teams cannot read. ARP-EXIT sits in the same monitoring group, and ARP-AUTH, which the company cites as its most popular product, puts multi-factor authentication in front of IBM i login access. Arpeggio has also released free editions of several tools, including SIFT-IT Free Edition.
