End-to-End Encrypted File Transfer Hosted Under Swiss Law

Arcano is a secure file exchange service built for professionals under a legal duty of confidentiality, the lawyers, accountants, and similar roles the company calls secret carriers. It was founded in 2018 by five people with backgrounds in applied cryptography, law and compliance, secure system design, and large-scale infrastructure, after watching confidential material move routinely through email attachments, shared cloud folders, and temporary links that were never designed for serious confidentiality.

Encryption and decryption run in the browser on the user's own machine, so files never reach the servers in readable form and the operator has no access to them. A transfer can carry an additional passphrase, which the sender is advised to pass over a different channel such as SMS or a phone call. Senders also set how many days a file lives and how many downloads it allows before deletion, and any message sent with the files is encrypted the same way.

The upload box can be embedded in a firm's own website, so clients send files without an account or a login, and a personal upload link works the same way for one-off exchanges. A Contacts feature keeps exchanges inside Arcano with a per-person transfer history, removing the need for outside messaging. Data sits on Swiss servers under Swiss law, the service is GDPR compliant, and its cryptography has been audited by Cure53.
