Its customers sit largely in regulated sectors — finance, healthcare, education, insurance, and federal, state and local government — where data that leaves the network perimeter on removable media must stay protected regardless of which host machine it is plugged into.

Every Aegis device authenticates through an onboard polymer-coated keypad rather than host software, so PINs are never typed on a potentially compromised keyboard and no drivers or applications are installed on the endpoint. Encryption runs on the fly in a dedicated chip using 256-bit AES-XTS, with circuitry and locked firmware sealed under hardened epoxy. Separate admin and user PINs, configurable read-only modes, a programmable brute-force threshold of four to twenty attempts, and a self-destruct PIN that crypto-erases the drive complete the control set.

The software-free, platform-agnostic approach the company markets as AegisWare means the drives behave identically across Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and Chrome OS, and on embedded systems with a powered USB port. Select models carry FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validation and TAA compliance, while the Windows-based Aegis Configurator lets IT teams batch-provision PINs, policies and preloaded files across many devices and retain an auditable deployment history.
