
Post-Quantum Enterprise VPN Built on CNSA 2.0 Cryptography
American Binary, incorporated as Ambit Inc. and headquartered in Kirkland, Washington, builds post-quantum cryptography for network infrastructure. Founded in 2019 by chief executive Kevin Kane and chief technology officer Andrew McElroy, the company targets defense contractors, government agencies, and enterprises that must protect data in transit against harvest-now-decrypt-later interception, in which traffic captured today is stored until a cryptographically relevant quantum computer can break the classical encryption protecting it.
The flagship product, Ambit Client, is an enterprise VPN built on the company's MaxKyber protocol, a modular network protocol that packages post-quantum algorithms for insertion into existing networking tools. MaxKyber uses only CNSA 2.0 algorithms across authentication, key exchange, bulk encryption, and hashing rather than pairing them with classical ciphers in a hybrid mode, and it handles in-session key rotation along with the MTU constraints that larger post-quantum keys create on mobile and IoT links.
Formal verification separates the approach from most competitors: the company states that all 120 security properties of MaxKyber have been independently attested through symbolic proof against CNSA 2.0 requirements. Deployment spans SaaS and on-premises topologies, with a FireFalcon posture check for endpoint compliance and clients for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Booz Allen named the firm to its 2024 list of top emerging technologies for the Department of Defense, and a 2026 partnership placed Ambit Client on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
