Anti-Malware, Ad Blocking, and PC Cleanup Tools for Windows

Adaware is a consumer-facing Windows security and maintenance brand, and the name is a registered trademark of Avanquest Software. It descends from the Ad-Aware anti-spyware scanner, one of the earliest widely used tools for cleaning adware and tracking software off home PCs. The audience today is individual Windows users and households rather than managed corporate fleets: products are downloaded directly, offered in free versions, and upgraded to paid tiers with additional protection and support.

The current lineup has four parts. Adaware Privacy monitors PC protection status and issues real-time alerts about potential threats. Adaware AdBlock is a browser extension that blocks advertisements and trackers and filters malicious web content, which also cuts page load times. PC Cleaner handles system maintenance: registry cleanup, disk cleanup, memory optimization, and junk file removal. Driver Manager scans installed hardware and updates outdated drivers automatically. Each tool is installed and run independently rather than as a single integrated agent.

Adaware sits in the consumer utility market rather than the enterprise endpoint market. There is no central management console, policy engine, or fleet reporting, and detection is aimed at commodity malware, adware, and browser-borne threats rather than targeted intrusion. Distribution runs through the company's own site and third-party download portals, and the products compete with other bundled PC security and tune-up suites sold on a freemium model. Ownership by Avanquest places the brand inside a broader consumer software portfolio.
